Akstel's New Bedroom

With a new little brother on the way, Akstel will soon have to give up his crib (just not ready quite yet!). We wanted him to have a fun room that was special for him and give him his own space to play and spend time, so we moved him across the hall from where he has been and here is what we came up with. (Check our our Picasa pictures for more!)

A big thank you to Grandma K for making his bed spread, pillows and curtains! They turned out SO cute! And thanks for your help with everything else too!

We not really ready to re-do the inside of our house just yet so I tried to be thrifty in creating the new room.....which made it WAY more fun =)

An ugly old shelf from Savers.........
Becomes a cute little boy bookshelf!!

I saved some of my old formula cans knowing that I would have a good use for them someday! Someday has come.....they now hold toys and books and whatever else Akstel puts in them. (They are the cans on the shelf painted red).

Also a good Saver's find.....small plastic chairs with metals legs....painted blue and they have got to be one of Asktel's favorite parts of his room (its in close competition with bed which he can climb up on very easily and see out the window!) I found the red table on Craigslist and it's perfect for him to sit at!

Jenae recovered some old pillows I had and made a duvet cover for the comforter as well as matching valances for the two window. Ties the room together!

I spray painted an old yucky laundry basket for his dirty laundry and covered some cardboard boxes with fabric to hold his socks and shoes, meeting toys and books and extra diapers!
It was so much fun making Akstel's room special just for him!

  1. love how you are having such fun decorating and repurposing in the thrifty sort of way, his room is adorable, great work!!!
